Hatherleigh Town Council is very supportive of the Okehampton Rail Service Initiative which is seeking the reintroduction of a passenger train service for weekdays from Okehampton to Exeter, therefore linking into the rest of the train line network.
For many years there has been a Sunday Rover service operating through the summer months (see 2016 timetable below) which has proved to be increasingly very popular. However there is growing support and evidence for the need for a weekday service too and as part of an initiative to raise the profile of the campaign and to promote how bus connections could work for satellite towns and villages there will be a trial bus trip on Sunday 14th August, see below for details.
